Our Bridport Member Awarded
I’m thrilled to share some fantastic news with the Conquest community! My painting, ‘Holly the Resilient,’ has been awarded 2nd Place in the John Marlow Prize at the Bridport Art Society.
This piece celebrates my springer spaniel, Holly, and her incredible spirit in the face of epilepsy, deafness, and being brachycephalic. Despite everything she’s still a bonkers, nutty and brave springer spaniel who strives to live everyday like a buffet on a cruise and having as much fun, chaos (and mischief) as she can.
During the creative process, I found inspiration and a breakthrough during a Conquest Art Group session on collage which I have used to form Holly’s shape and keeping any distinct Spaniel features visible. It was Initially created to share Holly’s inspiring story at my market stall, however, I decided to enter it into the ‘Inside Out’ competition at the last minute and was absolutely delighted to receive this recognition amongst so many talented artists.
This award makes ‘Holly the Resilient’ even more special. The original now has pride of place at home, while prints and cards of her story are featured on my market stall. A big thank you to Conquest Art for the inspiring session that helped bring Holly’s resilience to life on canvas!
