Ashtead Group – Six Months On
Tuesday 4th July was not only a special day in the USA, with Independence Day celebrations, but also in Ashtead, Surrey. This was the first meeting of Ashtead Conquest Art group, held in St Michael’s Church Hall, a very good venue with ample parking. Six people turned up for our first meeting and after three meetings the membership had increased to 14, ably assisted by eight volunteers, many of them being artists themselves, as well as having other professional skills.
We have a wide age range from 26 to 90, as well as a range of artistic abilities; some members have painted before, while for others it is a first-time experience which they are enjoying. Three members of the group are visually impaired.
At the moment we are exploring with our members which materials they like to work with and the style in which they like to paint.
