Ashtead Welcomes the Mole Valley District Council Chairman
Simon Ling visited the Ashtead group on Tuesday 1st May as one of his last official visits as the chairman of Mole Valley District Council. Members selected two or three pieces of their work to show Simon who is a keen artist himself. Simon talked to each member about their art and what they liked about attending the group.
The importance of the group was summed up by one member who said ‘my mother remembers very little these days but she always remembers the art group. Simon then met the volunteers who outlined how the group runs and the benefits to members. Before leaving Simon gave a little speech and said how much he had enjoyed his visit. While he noted that the council had no funds to support such groups he said that the welfare of residents was its top priority and it was good see how successful the group was. The visit was a great boost so close to our first anniversary – 4th July 2018.
