Celebrations at Stoneleigh!
On a very hot, sunny Monday afternoon in June the Stoneleigh group members and volunteers got together for a celebration of 40 years of Conquest Art. The venue was group leader Lesley’s beautiful garden. All except three people from the group were able to attend. We did miss Chrissie, one of our volunteers and Susan and Glynnis and it was a shame that they couldn’t be with us.
On arrival we all headed into the garden to sit in the shade, provided by the apple trees as well as sun umbrellas. After a delicious buffet lunch and plenty of chatting the group stood together for a toast to Conquest Art’s 40 years. The celebration cake was a beautifully decorated Victoria sponge with the Conquest Art logo being drawn from tubes of red, blue and yellow paint (see picture at the top of the page). There was also a chocolate cake, so we were spoiled for choice. Some of the members did some drawing and painting of features in the garden. Others continued to enjoy chatting in the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Lesley presented the much appreciated and hard-working volunteers with a 40th Anniversary celebration gift – shown below by volunteer, Kate.
It really was a wonderful afternoon. Thank you, Lesley, for hosting such a fantastic celebration.
