Sad News for Halesworth
Greetings from Halesworth Group – our members are unable to meet during lockdown, but we are sometimes lucky to see and greet each other around Halesworth whilst out on essential journeys. Not long to go and we can meet up again to share stories. We unfortunately have some very sad news, and our group will be missing a very popular member when we resume.
Our dear Member Agnes Thurston, died peacefully in her Care Home, recently. She was 88 years old and had been attending Conquest Art for seven years, often arriving on her mobility scooter. She will be sadly missed. Her talent was inspiring, with her love of wildlife, as evident in the paintings below. In fact, in 2016, her painting (below) was chosen as the Mayor’s favourite painting, a great honour but being Agnes she was amazed!
Her legacy will live on at Halesworth and we intend to honour her memory when we return.
Above are one of her beautiful puffin pictures (and another at the top of the post) painted by Agnes and below a little black puppy with a wistful look. They are so sensitively painted – she was such a clever artist and could easily and quickly capture her favourite animal characters using pastels or watercolour.
